Summary
The Group Fitness Center Leader is primarily responsible for providing skilled leadership of fitness classes, ensuring to provide safe, effective and enjoyable exercise experiences for all members.
This position may include night and weekend hours.
Essential Functions

Provide a positive and safe environment for all members, staff and guests.
Maintain a positive attitude and smile.
Lead/Teach assigned fitness classes to members in a safe and effective manner.
Build positive relationships with class participants and clients in order to personalize classes and encourage active participation and class/program growth.
Ensure studios are clean and organized after each class and help ensure all Group Fitness class equipment is functional and working properly.
This includes the sound system, strength training equipment, steps, bikes, etc.
Assist with creating a positive, team-oriented work environment by motivating and inspiring members to achieve their best and continue to serve as a role model for others.
Work as a team member with all ICC Fitness Center staff to provide a high level of service to all members.
Provide member satisfaction by offering exceptional classes and customer service.
Attend all scheduled meetings, performance reviews and required staff training throughout the year.
Communicate effectively with other staff members and management to ensure delivery of quality programs and services.
Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Fitness Instructor certification or obtain within first 90 days of employment; certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Experience working in customer service.
Certified to teach the appropriate specialty class such as Les Mills Body Pump, Flow, Kettleworx, or similar, when appropriate.
Ability to work independently.
Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Group Fitness certification from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or NSCA.
Certification in Experience with Les Mills, Insanity, Kettleworx, Silver Sneakers, or other appropriate program instruction.
Experience working with college students.
Knowledge of Fitness Center or Gym etiquette.
Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
