Meals on Wheels makes a difference in the lives of the senior population! Not only does the program deliver a nutritious meal to help seniors remain independent in their homes, they provide one-on-one contact with individuals who may have few other daily social contacts.
Our Meals on Wheels staff don't think of this as a job, but as a mission in helping others! Neighborhood House is seeking a dynamic leader for its Meals on Wheels program.
This is a full-time, salaried position.
Ideal candidates will possess supervisory experience to guide a team of Meals on Wheels drivers, volunteers, and site managers.
*About the Position:* As the Director of our Meals on Wheels program, you will provide complete oversight of the program, with a goal to develop and maintain a cost-effective, customer-oriented delivery service system with a strong focus on continuous quality improvement.
You will guide the Program Assistant, Driver Coordinator, Delivery Drivers, and Site Managers through continuous quality supervision and training.
You will provide input for developing the program’s annual operating budget, review monthly against actual income/expenses, and make necessary adjustments to ensure the program’s solvency.
You will develop goals, objectives, and long-term strategic plans and maintain relevant policies/operating procedures.
You will oversee the intake process for meal recipients, completion of necessary forms, and entering data into software programs.
You will manage all grants/funding spend down and reporting, program software, and data accuracy.
You will assign substitutes for Site Managers and Delivery Drivers as needs arise, and run routes when other coverage is not available.
You will act as liaison between participants, staff, service agencies, and communities served.
You will ensure that all Congregate Sites are operating efficiently and within budget.
You will complete accurate and timely report submission to grantors, funders, and third party payers.
You will assist the Development Director in soliciting donations from Congregate Site townships and other sources.
You will oversee the creation of newsletters on a regular basis for meal recipients and program donors.
*About You:* You must be able to demonstrate sensitivity, empathy, and cultural competency towards program clients.
You should have strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
You should be able to work independently and collaboratively with others.
You must have a current driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle.
You should have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Human Services, or a related field.
Lengthy relevant work experience will also be considered.
You must have a minimum of three years of program management and/or supervisory experience.
You must be willing to obtain Food Manager certification in the first 90 days of employment.
You should be proficient at using Microsoft Office programs and comfortable completing general office duties that include, but aren't limited to, copying, filing, emailing, and faxing.
You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances.
You must pass a criminal background check and lead or take part in professional development opportunities.
