*General Summary*:
Guided by NPC’s mission, vision, and values, the Director of Student & Family Ministries leads the congregation’s efforts to raise up faithful followers of Christ among the middle school and high school populations inside the church and out in the community.
*Essential Job Functions:* ● Provide ministry opportunities which introduce students to a life following Jesus, encourage and nurture their faith and equip students to bear witness to Christ in all aspects of their daily lives.
● Responsible for providing Student Ministry programs, classes, groups and missions for students from grades 6 through 12, Middle School and High School.
● Work with the Student Ministry team to plan, implement and lead effective outreach and faith development ministries for students and families through means of weekly youth groups, small groups, retreats, missions, one-to-one outreach for students.
● Positively encourages students and families to integrate into the greater life of Northminster while also encouraging ways the church can better foster a welcoming atmosphere and connection for students and families to be a part of the larger church.
● Model personal commitment to the Christian life through participation in worship (and other activities as desired and able) at Northminster.
● Provide reunion events (at least two times each year) for graduated students which welcome them “home,” encourage their faith, providing a way to help grads maintain connection to Northminster Church family and friends.
● Be a resource and support to parents of students as the church partners with parents to love and nurture their pre-teens and teens.
● Recruit student ministry leaders and high school student leaders for ministry programs, ensuring that they are maturing in faith and seek to nurture the faith of students.
● Equip, train and support Northminster Student Ministry Leaders in all facets of the ministry to lead students to life with Christ.
● Ensure all youth volunteers receive proper training and clearance in the Safe Boundaries abuse prevention policy and program or its equivalent.
● Develop and oversee the annual Student Ministry budget for review and approval.
● Provide direction and oversight for all youth-related communications, including newsletters, church bulletin announcements, web-site content, social media and youth marketing.
● Provide leadership with a team to plan and implement the Confirmation Ministry.
● Continue to grow and mature in Christian faith through study and prayer.
● Work collaboratively with the Nursery and Children’s Ministry Coordinators to build relationships across age groups, attract volunteers, and ensure continuity between the Children's & Family Ministry and Student & Family Ministries.
● Actively participate in Northminster staff meetings and weekly check-in meetings with Pastor/Head of Staff.
● Work collaboratively with Pastor, staff, leadership and lay volunteers as together we seek to fulfill Northminster’s purpose and vision, treating every Northminster Covenant Partner and coworker with Christ like love and respect.
● Perform other duties as related to Student & Family Ministry and as assigned by the Pastor.
(ex: helping out during VBS week) *Qualifications, Skills, Abilities:* ● A committed follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating Christian maturity and a deep and prayerful dependence upon God.
● Theologically consistent with the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO) and NPC and willingness to become a Covenant Partner of Northminster.
● One who senses a deep call to Student & Family Ministry, displaying a love for Jesus Christ and making Him know to students and their families.
● Values the relationship of students with their families and sees this ministry as a support for both students and parents.
● One who has passion and ability to engage students, providing opportunities for them to discover and grow in faith in Jesus.
● Works with Pastor and other appropriate staff to provide parenting ministry support.
● One who possesses growing leadership skills with self-awareness and a willingness to be coached and continue to grow personally in faith and ministry life.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster teamwork in a positive atmosphere with Pastor, staff, church leadership, student leadership, volunteers and parents.
● One who implements creative teaching approaches.
● One who possesses excellent organizational, administrative, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
● One who is technologically proficient with electronic communications of various kinds while maintaining safe measures for social media.
*Education and Experience:* ● Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry or related ministries degree (included but not limited to Family Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, Christian Education) is preferred.
● Two to four years experience in church setting working in Student & Family Ministry.
● Successful experience recruiting, building and equipping teams for ministry.
● Previous experience in managing or mentoring peers is desired.
*Working Conditions:* ● Accountable to the Pastor/Head of Staff.
● The Director for Student & Family Ministry will have an office, computer and phone at the church building with necessary supplies for performing the ministry.
● Maintain office hours (agreed upon with Pastor/HOS) while having a healthy work ethic.
Working off-site is expected for meeting with students, parents and leaders.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $40,000.
00 - $45,000.
