*POSITION PURPOSE*:
As a member of the health care team, the SNF Department Lead is responsible for the overall direction of the speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy services for patients at the facility through the application of management and clinical skills and knowledge to ensure quality therapy services and ensure smooth and continual departmental operations.
*QUALIFICATIONS*:
* Education, experience as a PTA or COTA
* Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of Illinois under the appropriate Illinois Practice Act.
* Three years experience in the therapy field preferred.
* Member or eligible for membership in good standing of the appropriate professional organization preferred.
* Proven management, interpersonal and leadership skills to administrate a diverse unit of clinicians.
* General knowledge and skill level enabling the evaluation and treatment of the geriatric patients
* Current certification in CPR and, as appropriate, other unit-specific skills.
*Job functions include, but are not limited to:*
* Monitoring therapy department productivity.
* Supervise the patient care activities with the SNF therapy department
* Oversee Medicare/RUGS classification of patients.
* Oversees the scheduling of patients.
* Enforces departmental and facility policy and procedures with regard to patient care activities.
* Serves as the liaison between the therapy staff and the physician staff and facility staff.
* Be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the therapy staff.
* Creates an environment to nurture and stimulate the professional growth and staff development.
Consults with Senior Clinician regarding continuing education among the staff.
* Uses time efficiently and effectively, carrying a daily caseload of patients.
