Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor in the Facilities Management Department, the Energy Manager will primarily monitor and manage energy and utility usage for the University.
The Energy Manager will engage in activities that support the strategic goals of the Facilities Management Department.
These duties include but are not limited to monitoring energy and other utility consumption, providing and implementing energy use improvement recommendations, utilizing the utility usage database and building automation system to initiate energy efficiency initiatives.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare materials and facilities to accommodate the delivery of high quality service to the University Community.
Arrange for and populate supporting technology and systems.
Possess a willingness to work a variety of hours including evening hours on occasion.
Receive and maintain telephone communications and manage correspondence.
Respond to requests for information and assistance; assist faculty staff and students in matters that are related to utilities, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Maintain time keeping system for staff.
Respond to JULIE requests, maintain records of buried utilities.
Ensure staff is maintaining code compliance.
Assist in managing program accounts, invoicing, requisitions, account reconciliations and closings.
Independently manage office and program inventories and accounts.
Maintain computerized and hard copies of information, files and records.
Support staffing level strategies.
Identify, schedule and coordinate work activities related to Utilities Section.
Direct supervision of Utilities Section staff as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years’ experience in facilities management and experience working with professional, and hourly staff in maintenance environment.
Also: strong interpersonal, customer service skills, written and oral communication skills; proficiency with word processing and database management; ability to work independently and take initiative to determine solutions; exhibit sound/accurate judgment; ability to demonstrate sensitivity for cultural differences; ability to maintain confidentiality; strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills; positive work ethic and integrity; ability to coordinate/manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and on deadline.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working conditions can be in an office environment, mechanical spaces, outdoors in extreme weather, dirty and dusty conditions.
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and be able to move heavy objects on occasion.
