Position Title: Director of Community Health
Salary Grade: 18 (Full Time, Exempt)
Reports To: Administrator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of all the programs within the Community Health Division.
Monitors for compliance of rules, regulations, and timeframes for programs administered by the Community Health division according to State and Federal requirements/guidelines.
Manages and develops appropriate protocols for all programs within the division.
Provides direction in the preparation, writing, and annual submittal of multiple grant requests for the Community Health Division; monitors grant progress to ensure grant requirements are being met; and submits required reporting monthly and annually to the state and other community Seeks alternative sources of funding for program services.
Writes grant applications determining appropriate use of the grant funds.
Oversees the division's budget which includes: identifying budget needs and developing grant/program budgets in conjunction with Business Operations and the Administrator/Assistant Administrator; ensuring that budget parameters are tracked and not
Establishes and /or approves program priorities, procedures, and practices within the Develops short- and long-term goals for staff to reflect strategic plan, community health improvement plan, and Tazewell County Health Department's mission.
Evaluates current processes and makes recommendations for changes and/or new processes imbedding quality improvement practices/ideas within the division.
Serves as a leadership team member with other directors in establishing direction and leadership within the
Exercises performance management practices within the Community Health division such as reviewing applicants, hiring and dismissing personnel, staff evaluations, staff training etc.
Implements the "Core functions of Public Health Service" working collaboratively with department groups, community agencies, government and private entities assuring coordination of services and to achieve positive community health outcomes.
Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of the Department's strategic plan and the Community Health Improvement
Reviews materials developed by staff and by other agencies for accuracy and
Attends professional meetings within and outside the county representing the Department at other agencies' meetings and on boards and advisory
Evaluates new and existing School programming for suitability and in order to assess the need for changes, using information such as audience surveys and
Receive and respond to staffing needs 24/7 via the program call-in / emergency
Actsas a liaison between TCHD and Tazewell Schools, providing and attaining necessary information that is needed to run the School programs.
Coordinates health promotional activities with all health department divisions, as necessary and mutually determined with division directors.
Organizes and staffs' public health events like health fairs, displays, and
Maintains confidential personal information that must be safeguarded to prevent damage to client's lives or reputations; Utilizes sound judgment and caution in communications with individuals inside and outside the Department.
Strong focus on being strategic, problem solving, and being solution-focused
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field
Two years program management experience, including planning, budgeting, and staffing required.
Proven leadership skills and management experience, including the ability to develop team performance and to coach/mentor
Experience working with community-based coalitions and organizations, community capacity building efforts, technical experience, and group facilitation
Hours: 37.
5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30-4:30, hours may vary as position requires 6:30 am - 6:00 pm availability.
Evenings and weekend events as needed.
Pay Range: $35.
