What You Will Do: As the IT Infrastructure Team Lead, you will join the Logistics Information Services (LIS) – Technology & Compliance Services Group with PSLD.
This team is responsible for delivering critical Technology Enabled Solutions throughout PSLD.
The IT infrastructure delivered by this team serves as a foundational enabler and supports everything we do throughout the division.
As a Team Lead, you will guide a multi-functional team of IT infrastructure technical professionals in the delivery of infrastructure support and development efforts.
You will be responsible for overseeing strategic and maintenance projects within the infrastructure team as well as maintaining and improving upon team processes and standards.
You will work with technical experts, architects, analysts, facility/site IT representatives, business partners, IT and business leaders, project managers, Logistics Center Management teams, facility, and security teams, as well as operations associates and representatives.
Consults and lead projects for a wide range of technology related issues to internal and external customers, while adhering to standards and processes.
Provides leadership and direction to multi-functional teams to develop and execute strategy.
Manage activities of projects, including overseeing project deliverables and communications.
Develop contingency plans for potential risks.
Direct and motivate project team.
Evaluate and manage deliverables to ensure that expectations are achievable, developed, communicated, and met.
Ensures program meets all goal requirements for cost, budget, and customer satisfaction.
Manage change and take active leadership in timely decision making.
Monitors progress of projects, discusses challenges with affected areas, assures appropriate personnel are informed of opportunities for improvement and steps are in place to meet schedules.
Depending on nature of issue, expected to recommend possible solutions and alternatives.
Ensure adherence to quality standards and processes.
Provide regular updates to business stakeholders, leaders, and consumers of program deliverables.
Manage multiple projects concurrently.
Follow PMP processes and standard work.
Ensures that project efforts follow existing standards and processes.
Resource management.
Capital Work Order approvals and monitoring.
Ordering and invoicing for infrastructure device/equipment needs.
Yearly forecasting and budgeting.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree.
8-12 years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly collaborative and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders both within Caterpillar and externally.
Extensive experience leading software development projects.
Extensive experience in project administration best practices and ability to use organizational strategies, practices, and tools for administering projects.
Extensive experience in decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Extensive experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Technology Advising: Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services, and solutions for a specific technology domain.
Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing, and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
Hardware Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build, and integrate IT hardware into multiple platforms for the organization.
Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze, and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers, and other development tools.
What You Have (Preferred Qualifications): Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related disciplines.
Working knowledge in applications development with a broad background in hardware, software, infrastructure support (network, server, automations, facility mobility), development methodologies, project management, and customer application needs.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, and influence other inside and outside the department.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Agile certifications or training.
PMP Certification.
Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
