The TIS (Technical Information Solutions) Project Lead position is responsible for providing leadership and technical direction to a Service Information team of Technicians and Authors in the Mechanical Lab.
The Mechanical Lab team is accountable to validate and author machine repair procedures to deliver Disassembly and Assembly Manuals for dealers and customers globally on Cat-branded products.
This position will develop and lead a passionate team of customer focused professionals, respected for results and driven by our Values in Action.
Primary accountabilities of this position include:
Influencing Product Groups to receive validation iron, execution of deliverables, and collaborating with Product Groups, Supervisors, and Developers.
Incumbents are experts in product knowledge and product servicing procedures for assigned products.
Accountable for ensuring the work group completes the assignments on time and information is technically accurate and complete.
Works with product groups, dealers and others to ensure appropriate service information is provided.
Incumbents guide the information development process and assist work group members in gathering information from various sources to ensure service technicians have the information needed to validate and author assigned products.
The incumbent will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.
This position requires mechanical and technical acumen, as well as a strong leadership skills.
Challenges include customer demands and managing change associated with machine timelines and the creation and delivery of technical information.
Basic Qualifications:
Two-year degree - OR - 2+ years of repair and maintenance of heavy machinery plus 2+ years of technical writing
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Solid technical acumen of Caterpillar machines and repair processes
Experience leading a team
Understanding of people development and human relation processes
Excellent collaboration and relationship management capabilities
Strong program management, organization, and communications skills
Proficient in ACM authoring and Publishing processes
