Our team members choose to be part of the MMS team and stay with us throughout their careers! Overview of Position: Manufacturing Maintenance Solutions (MMS) is looking for experienced Blacksmiths with industrial manufacturing skill set in the Peoria/Pekin area.
Multiple positions will be filled, with Blacksmiths reporting in-house daily and positions with the Blacksmiths reporting to customers location daily.
All customer regulations and policies will be followed and adhered to.
Working conditions: - Protective eyewear, hearing protection, head protection, and safety shoes are always required in shop areas.
- Temperatures may range from 40-120 degrees, depending on the area of the plant an individual may be working in.
- Job duties may require outside work at any time during the year.
- Job duties may require working from ladders or platforms above floor level.
Job duties may involve the use of solvents, oils, grease, etc.
Appropriate personal protective equipment is required.

Additional Benefits Location/Hours/Compensation: Peoria, Illinois Full-Time, 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, Overtime as required The successful candidate may be asked to work weekends and overtime on a regular basis, hours will flex as business requires.
Starting wage range is $25-35 per hour.
Starting wage offer will be based on candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities Requirements: Forges and repairs variety of metal articles, like tongs, edged tools, hooks, chains, machine structural components, and manufacturing riggings as specified by work orders, diagrams, or sample parts.
Heats metal stock in blacksmiths forge or furnace [Heater].
Hammers stock into specified size & shape on blacksmiths anvil or positions stock on anvil of power hammer and depresses pedal to hammer stock with varying force rapidity.
Forge-welds metal parts by heating hammering them together.
Devises jigs fixtures, forges special hand tools, like hammers or chisels, and sets up form blocks.
Tempers or anneals forged articles [Heat Treater heat treating I].
Record type of repair or fabrication of tools or machine components performed during work shift to maintain daily activity report records.
May cut, assemble, and weld metal parts, using arc or acetylene welding equipment [Welder, Combination welding] Ability to use hand tools Small powered equipment (saws, drills, etc.
), and other shop equipment Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions Ability to analyze information and to make an informed decision based on that information Ability to work with a minimum of supervision in a team environment.
Will work alone or as a member of a work crew, depending on the work assignment Ability to handle physical workload Must have a valid state driver’s license, vehicle insurance and dependable vehicle Must be a U.

Responsible for any equipment requiring maintenance work.

Responsible for maintaining product integrity.
Responsible for company equipment.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to sit.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
The employee is regularly required to use close vision and color vision.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud.
In the factory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
