Job Summary: As an Engineering Manager , you will be responsible for leading a team of Caterpillar and Agency employees, overseeing design control, engine component portfolio management and supplier sourcing selection oversight.
What You Will Do: Oversee design control and portfolio management of various engine components such as Air Compressor, Flexpipe, Heat Shields, Preservation, Film, shipping cover and paint instruction groups.
Lead and own the sourcing council where supplier decisions are made.
This requires leadership to align engineering and purchasing on sourcing matrix of key components.
Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
Provide specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
Manage high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of engineering plan and product quality.
Maintain product release plans and material plans; driving programs to completion on time and within budget.
Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
What You Will Have: Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
