com/en/about/meet-the-team/ JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY This is a position in which the incumbent will perform routine maintenance and repair services of process equipment to improve the equipment uptime and reliability while receiving formal training and mentoring others.
The incumbent will be familiar with the millwright craft's safety requirements to aid in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, adjusting of mechanical equipment within an industrial/manufacturing plant environment.
Principal Responsibilities Understand and apply all the Industrial Safety requirements for the millwright/Mechanical Technician craft in the assigned plants or shops.
Safe work practices and requirements including ISO, Responsible Care (RC) and any other plant specific requirements consistent with job tasks.
Use all common tools of the millwright craft/Mechanical Technician (i.
e.
, hand tools, power tools and test equipment).
Solid understanding and knowledge of rotating equipment, reciprocating equipment, gaskets, packing, seals, bolts, anchors, hoses, metallurgy, precision maintenance techniques, and field installation techniques associated with equipment.
Solid knowledge of mechanical and precision maintenance principles both hands-on and theoretical knowledge.
The incumbent can perform mid-level installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Possess and prove strong knowledge of mechanical equipment including rotating equipment, reciprocating equipment, hydraulic components, pneumatic components, material handling equipment, and hand rigging.
Demonstrate strong ability for “know-how” to read, interpret, and implement equipment maintenance instructions and to understand standard equipment manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&ID’s, blueprints, and other specifications.
Be able to understand concepts, learn and assist, under senior technicians, and mentor others (new/deficient technicians) in the installation, repair, and testing of mechanical equipment.
Demonstrate millwright ability and experience by completing the repair and replacement of faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines.
Know how to check-out parts and material from the storeroom for routine installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment.
Be able to acquire and retain advanced millwright troubleshooting, repair and installation skills and knowledge.
Continue to acquire knowledge of processes involved in the production units.
Participate in on-site or off-site vendor or technical training.
Continue to learn maintenance best practice principles regarding planning and performing maintenance accordingly.
Must be capable of learning SAP R11 Computer Maintenance Management System.
The system will be used for Work Orders, Procurement of Materials, Work Hour Input, Closing Statements.
Have proven knowledge about the tracking of maintenance costs and other team KPI’s, etc.
Ability to interact with others (both peers and others) in a productive manner in a team environment, both as a leader and as a follower – depending on the team’s immediate needs.
Apply and mentor others on the principles of precision maintenance regarding mechanical equipment troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, installation, and documentation.
Capable of developing, coordinating, and conducting training on millwright troubleshooting, repair, and installation skills.
Properly document all repair activities and actively seek continuous improvement opportunities.
Clearly communicate with the Maintenance Department, Contractors and Area Engineers and Production Units as needed.
Promote an environment/culture for safe and effective work.
Willingness to learn and grow skills and expertise.
Essential Functions Physical Demands: Heavy work: Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical mobility and agility required, for example climbing ladders and stairs, working off scaffolding, prolonged stooping, stretching, bending, and confined space entry.
May require working in a rotating shift environment including weekends, holidays and call-in schedule.
Sensory faculties needed to safety perform the job duties that allow a person to react to potential immediate hazardous conditions and to take appropriate actions.
Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respiratory protection, safety harness, and other fall protection.
In addition to common protective or safety equipment such as, safety shoes, eye protection, hand protection, heating protection, hard hats, etc.
Environmental Work Conditions: The incumbent is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Activities occur inside and outside.
The incumbent is subject to outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.
The incumbent is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures below 32 degrees F for periods of more than one hour.
The incumbent is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees F for periods of more than one hour.
The incumbent is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
The incumbent is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
The incumbent is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
The incumbent is subject to atmospheric conditions that can require respiratory protection: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, or poor ventilation.
The incumbent must wear a respirator (potentially breathing air or filter mask, air line or self-contained), encapsulated suit.
The incumbent is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
REQUIREMENTS High-school education or GED with Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment and/ or the equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
A demonstrated master level experience and skill for the Millwright/Mechanic craft is required, this can be achieved by obtaining acceptable or satisfactory scores on courses or tests imparted by NCCER, Ramsey, trade schools or other nationally recognized Millwright/Mechanic craft training organization combined with observed field experience or bench testing.
Experience on the following types of rotating equipment is preferred: Agitators, Pumps, Valves, Mechanical Seals, Gearboxes, Separators/Centrifuges, Filters/Dust Collectors, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Air Compressors, Belt-driven Equipment, Rotary Valves.
Demonstrate ability to perform high precision machining and milling when needed.
Detailed knowledge of laser alignment tools and application.
Basic welding and torch skills.
Precision measuring using calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
Bolt and torque understanding, bolt identification, use of torque wrenches and torque specifications.
Ability to perform root cause analysis on every failed equipment seeking repair.
Ability to understand and operate a personal computer and associated software systems.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
