We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Supply Chain Planning Engineer II in Morton, IL.
The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar.

Learn more about the Caterpillar Experience As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer II, you are responsible for facility performance targets for inventory storage utilization and improved efficiency as well as managing capital improvement projects where realized benefits are evident.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to Working independently as well as working effectively with diverse, multi-functional teams Gathering and analyzing data on facility demand and demand variability Gathering and analyzing data about inbound and outbound functions throughout the facility Managing the facility rearrangement plan and rearrangement team to complete planned rearrangement activities, including capacity and productivity goals Completing capital purchasing functions for the facility, including procurement, installation and place-into-service Maintain facility product slotting rules to align with inventory profile changes over time Look for continuous improvement opportunities throughout the entire facility and make expert recommendations for process changes to improve results Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams targeting facility improvements Collaborate with engineers globally to benchmark best practices and implement improvements Working with WMS to optimize setup for local business conditions Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of progressive professional experience in a Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Operations environment is required.
Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
Analyzes business processes, identifies alternative solutions to outdated processes and assesses their feasibility.
Evaluates financial, cultural, technological and other factors that need to be addressed.
Recommends new approaches that seek the use of advanced technology.
Works to overcome BPI resistance from managers, the labor force and other groups.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances.
Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.
Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.
Approaches a complex problem by breaking it down into its component parts.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.
Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.
Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.
Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
Manages supply chain finance activities and measurements of effectiveness.
Advises others on capacity issues at various points in the supply chain.
Monitors the complete supply chain management process.
Consults on supply chain network design projects or processes.
Quantifies and evaluates benefits and risks of various supply chain strategies and approaches.
Participates in joint planning, process design/redesign with clients and partners.
Top Candidates Will Also Have Bachelor level degree, preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Previous experience in Logistics Planning & Engineering or as a Supply Chain Planning Analyst or Supply Chain Engineer or with Automation implementations and support Understanding of Industrial Engineering Principles Strong problem solving, analytical, priority setting, and communication skills EWM Warehouse management experience 1-2 years of experience with AutoCAD Additional Information No relocation available for this position.
