JOB TASK The incumbent packs and crates products and materials according to work order requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Read work orders to determine unit or piece to be packed and crated Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met Measure, weigh, and count products and materials Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools Place products or materials into containers, using hand tools and equipment Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers, using hand tools Obtain, move, and sort products, materials, containers, and orders, using hand tools Seal containers or materials, using glues, fasteners and hand tools Visually inspect packing to ensure products are secure and protected for shipment Maintain a clean, safe work area free of foreign materials Participate in training and cross-training efforts as needed Other duties as assigned REQUIRED JOB SKILLS Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly desired Experience using tools such as industrial shrink wrap, utility knives, box sealing tape dispensers, staple guns, screw guns, miter saw, and drills Experience using standard rulers Forklift operator experience strongly desired High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS Basic math, standard ruler measurements, reading, and reasoning skills Ability to communicate effectively, written and oral Demonstrated knowledge and use of the above mentioned tools Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work effectively in a team
